The 20th American Celtic Ball of the Ireland Chamber - United States was a truly historic evening. Maurice Buckley, President of ICCUSA, was pleased to join ICCUSA's International Chairman, Sir Michael Smurfit, and ICCUSA's Dinner Co-Chairs, Ned Cloonan, Denis O'Brien, Sir George Quigley, Pat Moore, Mark Pigott, John Paul Macdonald and Patrick Durkin, in another successful gala affair at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York City. |

The Honorees were greeted by a Ballroom filled with nearly 600 friends, family and business colleagues, all of whom joined in the celebration. The evening was unique since ICCUSA celebrated its 20th Annual event and adding to that distinction, the evening served as the first time that honoree from Canada was the International Recipient of the Sir Michael Smurfit Business Achievement Award. In particular, the Chairman of Bombardier Inc, M. Laurent Beaudoin delivered warm and genuine remarks regarding Bombardier's strategic investment into Northern Ireland's economy.

In addition to highlighting the strong trans-Atlantic bonds between the USA and the island of Ireland, we were pleased to take this opportunity to launch the ICCUSA Foundation's educational mission -- our Albert Schweitzer Leadership for Life program. The aim of this program is to present comprehensive leadership programs for high school age youths around the globe and motivate students of all ethnicities, races, religions and socio-economic backgrounds to become engaged in leadership training, preparing them to lead their generation into a more civilized, more responsible world free of bigotry and bias.
